Critical Projects Process Newsletter

23 March 2018

This is the first in a series of monthly newsletters focused on providing and soliciting information from all parties interested in investing in Puerto Rico to address the island’s Critical Infrastructure Emergency.

New Web-page Launched:

The Critical Projects Portal at cpp.juntasupervision.pr.gov was relaunched over the weekend.  Improvements include more efficient project entry, removal of duplicative entries, and back-end enhancements.  Project owners will receive a note to “resubmit” their projects under the new site, which will automate the process of mapping previous submittals to new submittals.  Project owners will retain their position in the process when they resubmit.

Storage Emphasis:

The Critical Projects team under PROMESA is keenly interested in considering candidate submittals focusing on storage and related microgrid solutions.  Puerto Rico is undergoing a process to privatize the PR Electric Power Authority (PREPA), and microgrids are an integral part of the transformation directed in the Fiscal Plan.  Interested investors/project owners are encouraged to find more about the PR draft microgrid policy at http://energia.pr.gov/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Proposed-Regulation-on-Microgrid-Development-CEPR-MI-2018-0001-2.pdf.

Investor Conference

The Critical Projects team under PROMESA is interested in hearing from investors, developers and other interested parties on the possibility of a conference to share insights on investing in Puerto Rico.  Months after the devastation of Hurricane Maria, the situation with Puerto Rico’s critical infrastructure remains dire.  The purpose of this meeting is to provide clarity into the situation in Puerto Rico; clarify opportunities and processes; and connect interested parties in desired clusters.  If you are interested in such an event, please send a note to cppsupport@promesa.gov.
